Formlabs Nylon Powder
Optimizing cost with functionality
Nylon is the most commonly used material for selective laser sintering, with Nylon 12 – a single component powder – being the preferred version (PA12). Having proved to be a very capable product for functional prototypes as well as end-use manufacturing practices, Nylon possesses the material properties required for complex geometries whilst remaining stable in the environment. This makes it ideal for impact-resistant prototypes and combined with the material being a very competitive price, it’s no surprise that it is so prevalent in 3d printing.
Nylon12 parts printed on the Fuse 1 SLS Formlabs 3D printer are impact-resistant and possess high wear-and-tear qualities making it ideal for printed parts for use in creating complex assemblies. The material is resistant to water, solvents, heat, UV and light. It has a tensile strength of 50 MPa with an Elongation at Break of 6-11%.
